正月初五，也叫“破五”，是我國的傳統節（jiē）日（rì），在這（zhè）一天有很多講究和習俗，在《歲時（shí）瑣事》中記載說：“欲有所作（zuò）為，必（bì）過此五日，始行之”，意思就是在春節期間有很多規矩和講究，不能亂說話，不能說不吉利的（de）話，過了初五之後人們（men）不必有這些忌諱。
“破五”這一天（tiān），人們（men）最在意的一件事情就是（shì）“送窮迎財”，即（jí）智窮、學窮（qióng）、文窮、命窮、交窮，民（mín）間把這五窮稱之為五窮鬼，大家會用不同（tóng）的習俗將這五窮送走，比如在陝西韓（hán）城一帶，大家會炒麻豆（dòu），將豆子炒到劈（pī）裏啪啦（lā）作響，意思就時把壞的運（yùn）氣“崩走”。當然除了送窮之外，這（zhè）5件（jiàn）事，破五一定不（bú）要忘（wàng）。
一、迎財神（shén）
據說正月初五是財神的生日（rì），從這一（yī）天淩晨（chén）開始，人們就開始相繼迎財神，普通人家會給（gěi）財神（shén）供上水果，麵條或者餃（jiǎo）子，在燒（shāo）香求拜，燃放鞭炮以（yǐ）此求得財（cái）運（yùn），而且給財神貢過（guò）的（de）吃食，再讓家裏人吃，來（lái）年財運一定（dìng）會旺。
財神即五路神。所謂五路，指東西南北中，意為出門五路，皆可得財。除（chú）了五路神之外，還有武財神，文財神等說法，但（dàn）無論拜哪個財神，隻要心誠，皆能帶來財運。
二、吃餃子
俗話說“好吃不如餃子”，在中國大大小小的節日裏，都離不開（kāi）吃（chī）餃子，除了美味之外，它已經是中華美（měi）食重要的組成部分。從初一（yī）到初五禁忌比較多，所（suǒ）以到了破五吃餃子，表示慶賀不（bú）在有（yǒu）禁忌了。另（lìng）外還有人“包餃子，捏住小人嘴”的說法，意思就是來（lái）年小人少說壞話。
三、打掃房子
從除夕開始到正（zhèng）月初（chū）四，通常是不會（huì）打掃房子的，尤其是掃地，老一輩人認為會把財運掃走（zǒu），而到了破五這（zhè）一天，就要由內到外把垃圾掃成一個堆，然（rán）後放上（shàng）鞭炮，點然後劈裏啪啦，這樣（yàng）不好的運氣（qì）都會一掃而光，剩下的便是財氣和（hé）福氣。
四、放鞭炮
正月初五這一天，家家戶戶都（dōu）會燃放（fàng）鞭炮，而且鞭炮越響越長，寓意就越好，代表著把窮（qióng）運，以及各種不吉利（lì）都能轟去，有人還會燃放二踢腳，也叫（jiào）“崩（bēng）窮（qióng）”，把晦氣和（hé）窮氣統統都崩掉（diào）。有些商戶在初五這一天也會正式營業，放一（yī）串鞭炮，寓意今天財源滾滾。
